You are not alone!
There is 12 people in my team, and each of them has distinct characteristic. In their professional field, they has own understanding and the attitude toward the art, It is not easy to gather the strength of all the people to accomplish one thing. Therefore, negotiate, trust, and same aim would be more significant.
We spend almost five months together, argue, conflict, cheer, and encourage are unavoidable. As a director, or convener, I need to make sure that our conversation is effective which plays a coordinating role. In our meeting, we mostly keep the state of being rational, and in the beginning of the project, we set the rule that all of dialogue about this project is a kind of work, is not emotional. If someone feel unfordable in the process, we would like to communicate after work. In my perspective, it is crucial to make certain high efficiency work.
Definitely, respect is fundamental. Listen to other’s thought, then exchange views, make the atmosphere of the whole team to maintain harmony, while to push the project forward. whether these brilliant artists could work together based on respecting each others.
In this period, I learned a lot, not only other fields, but also how to get along with others. My team members are professional and patient, they would not be negative because of my lack of knowledge in other fields. Instead, they were willing to tolerate some of my immaturity and give me the most detailed explanations. At the same time, it is my first time to make a dance film, I am deeply aware that to be a director requires a rich knowledge reserve, and how important my friends are.
